As a lawyer, I represent people and businesses dealing with many different government decisions. Approximately one year ago I was approached by a group of seniors who were being denied public health care funding because of where they chose to live. It seems inherently wrong that in Alberta those over the age of 65 are treated differently than those under the age of 65 with the same needs. Why is it that it is somehow acceptable to take away the right of choice and “place” seniors into institutions when there are other more acceptable options?
